'Tamahagane' is with the root in the Japanese Samurai Sword. The name was just used for extremely high quality swords. The 'San Kyoto' 63-ply blade is produced by repeated rolling and folding the steel many times. This way Tamahagane is produced within the ancient way but with modern techniques. By repeated rolling, all impure materials are extracted in the material as well as the blade becomes harder plus much more durable.
MATERIAL - 63-layers - VG5 core and 62 layers of SUS410 steel thinned to 2mm from 20mm by a repeated rolling process.
HARDNESS - After the rolling process, the core material of VG5 steel becomes harder and harder to be 59-60 degrees Rockwell Hardness with a thickness of 0.65mm. Meanwhile, the SUS410 steel will remain at 28 to 32 degrees.
SHARPNESS - This the outstanding feature of this knife. The blade is sharper and retains its sharpness for longer than a normal solid blade knife.
RE-SHARPENING - Easy sharpening because of very thin VG5 core with softer SUS410 outer layers. The sharpening angle is 14-15 degrees.
HANDLE - Micarta-strongly compressed laminated linen. The nicely shaped handle will fit most hands very comfortably, and the handle is weighted to be well balanced. Hand washing is recommended. Please do not use in a dishwasher.
